CSI High School for International Studies is the result of a highly effective partnership between Asia Society, N.Y. Department of Education’s Region 7 and the College of Staten Island. Asia Society brings years of experience with international education, specifically: professional development, curriculum resources and a network of international studies schools.The College has had a history of successful collaborations with local schools in the past. Region 7 has extensive experience in the city’s public educational system. A collaborative effort in all of these areas will equal an exciting new school!

The College of Staten Island, which has well-established relationship with all of the island’s public schools and is highly involved in teacher training and professional development, is committed to supporting public education on all levels. CSI International High School will have the unique opportunity of sharing the many resources of the College including the library, language laboratory, science and computer laboratories, arts spaces, and the sports and recreation facility. Students will also have the opportunity to enjoy the college campus setting. CSI has numerous affiliations and exchange agreements with educational institutions around the globe, and will offer students a vast array of opportunities to travel, attend lectures, and participate in international activities. Asia Society, an established leader in international business, educational, and cultural programming in the United States and abroad, has been named one of several intermediary organizations to receive a grant from the Gates Foundation to develop a network of small schools throughout the nation. As one of these schools, the CSI High School for International Studies will join a prestigious community of affiliated institutions that will benefit from the Asia Society’s experience and expertise in international educational instruction, including rich professional development and teaching materials, international exchanges, museum-based learning experiences, and multimedia resources. For its part, the N.Y. Department of Education’s Region 7 will work closely with faculty and parents to build a community that helps students meet and exceed the New York State Standards. Region 7 will provide extensive experience in the city’s public educational system, including development of curricula, staffing, and establishing crucial communication links among constituent groups such as local leaders, parents, union representatives, and other key members of the community. The Regional staff will provide valuable instructional resources to ensure that students at all levels and including special education and ELL students will be successful.
