Karolynn J. Mangiero grew up on Staten Island where she graduated from Moore Catholic High School. She graduated from St. Thomas Acquinas College in Sparkill, New York with a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts and received her Masters in History from Brooklyn College – CUNY. Karolynn began her teaching career at Richmondtown Preparatory School before joining the New York Department of Education. She worked at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn during which time she was a member of the school committee for “High Schools That Work”, was a designee to Collaborative Communities at New York University, introduced and advised the “Model United Nations Club” to New Utrecht, started the “Regents Tutoring Weekend” and assisted in the revision of Global III and IV curriculums. She has been a member of the New York City Council for Social Studies and the New York State Council for Social Studies and was chosen and profiled for the Department of Education’s “New York’s Brightest Teachers” campaign. She also received the Senate Certificate of Merit in Recognition of Outstanding Service as a Teacher. At CSIHSIS, Karolynn looks forward to sharing her ideas and passion for learning with her colleagues and students.
