Ms. Francis has worked on new school reform and human rights education in high schools throughout the city including Urban Assembly Media High School, Satellite Academy and Humanities Preparatory Academy. She has taught Global Studies, American History, Economics, and Participation in Government, Women’s History, Video Production and Art. Her teaching style emphasizes the arts and media as tools for student self-expression and responsible global citizenship.

In addition to teaching Social Studies Ms. Francis has worked with several youth and human rights organizations including the Educational Video Center, American Civil Rights Education Services and Human Rights Watch International Film Festival. She is a yoga, biking and surfing enthusiast and is eager to develop programs that bridge academic and physical education in public schools.
