Tonya Brooks has many years of teaching experience at Edward R. Murrow High School, designated a School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. She has taught World History, Global Humanities, American History and Advanced Placement European History. Ms. Brooks created interdisciplinary curriculum for Global Humanities incorporating art, music and literature into social studies. She is a proud graduate of the CUNY system with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in History from Hunter College.

Ms. Brooks has taught teachers on the implementation of state standards into World History Instruction for the Brooklyn High School Superintendency. She has been a mentor for the New York City Teaching Fellows and a cooperating teaching for student teachers. She was a participant in the American Forum for Global Education’s China Program, and she has chaperoned students to China several times. She enjoys all kinds of music, international film, and is a huge Olympic Games enthusiast.
