Before becoming a NY City Teacher, Mr. Miano worked in Information Technology, starting as a technical recruiter, and moving into software training, project management, eventually rising to Chief Technology Officer of Millennium Consultants, Inc.

In 2002, Mr. Miano decided to fulfill his high school ambition and become a teacher. He began working as an English Teacher in Lafayette High School, where he remained for five years, also serving as the Computer Coordinator. While at Lafayette HS, he also served as a coach for the Varsity Baseball & Tennis teams, an as an Assistant Director of the Drama Club. Mr. Miano returned to Staten Island, and accepted a position as an English Teacher at I.S. 72 – The Rocco Laurie School, and as Assistant Coach for the Susan Wagner HS Football Team.

In 2008, Mr. Miano was offered the opportunity to become an English & Technology Teacher, and begin a Global Technology class at CSI High School. During his first year at CSI, students began working on the creation of their electronic portfolios, an initiative that will further help our school community become 21st Century Learners. The class has evoloved into a literacy through technology program, where students will concentrate on Digital Storytelling as the centerpiece for learning.

As a Varsity Softball Coach, our softball Dragons finished with a 10 win season and made the playoffs for the first time, advancing to the 2nd round of the NYC PSAL Championships. Mr. Miano has secured a PSAL Varsity Wrestling Team at CSI, with the help and funding from the Beat The Streets Program.

Mr. Miano has contributed in a variety of literary & technology education publications, and has received numerous grant awards through the Teachers Network of NY for exceptional Unit Curriculum. In 2008, Mr. Miano became a member of the NYC Teachnet Leadership Institute, a group of public school administrators and teachers working to expand the role of technology in NYC public schools, and was awarded a Metlife Fellowship Award.

Mr. Miano has many personal hobbies outside school. He is an avid runner and triathlete, and a lot of his free time is spent training for “the next race”. He enjoys living in the Jersey Shore and enjoys the beach, the beach, and the beach during the summer.

Mr. Miano graduated from Monsignor Farrell HS, and attended SUNY Albany where he earned his B.A. in English & Communications. Mr. Miano holds a Master of Science (M.S) degree in Literacy and is currently studying for a 2nd Masters in Education Technology.
