My name is Christopher T. Chieh and I will be teaching science at the CSI HS for International Studies. This is my first year working here. For the past six years, I have taught Forensics, Earth Science, Ecology and Living Environment at Brooklyn College Academy and Independence HS (formerly Lower Manhattan Outreach). I’ve held various jobs over the last six years such as working as a part-time lab assistant at Staten Island University Hospital and as an instructor with the Discovery Institute/Science and Technology Entry Program at CSI.
I was born in Liberia and studied Biology and Chemistry at the University of Liberia and the University of Lagos. After completing my undergraduate studies, I decided to study laboratory technology at the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Technology, Jos in West Africa. The following year I entered the Masters Program at Hunter College to become a science teacher while working as a full-time teacher in a N.Y.C Public School.
I never imagined myself standing in front of a classroom full of children but over the last six years I have realized that teaching is my true passion. I enjoy seeing students actively engaged in the learning process. I love to make learning fun and hands-on.
I enjoy various sports activities such as basketball, soccer, and jogging. In my spare time, I like to spend time gardening and visiting community museums and exhibits with my wife.
