Mr. Canale was installed as Assistant Principal at CSI High School for International Studies in June 2008. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Mr. Canale teaches one section of United States History. Prior to coming to CSI High School, Mr. Canale was an Assistant Principal, Administration for three years at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn where he supervised the Division of Safety and Security. Prior to becoming an assistant principal, Mr. Canale was Clara Barton High School’s Director of Senior Activities and a social studies teacher. He has taught mostly in the areas of Advanced Placement Government and Politics, United States History, Participation in Government, and Economics. Mr. Canale also coordinated Clara Barton High School’s We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution Team, where his team/class successfully competed at the City and State-wide levels of competition. Mr. Canale has also been a New York State monitoring representative at the National We the People competition in Washington D.C.
In addition to Mr. Canale’s responsibilities at CSI High School, he is an adjunct lecturer for Kingsborough Community College since September of 2000. Mr. Canale lectures in the areas of Sociology and Behavioral Science. While in college, Mr. Canale was very active in student leadership positions including serving on/as: the Board of Directors of the New York Public Interest Research Group Inc.(NYPIRG), the Vice President and a Director on The College of Staten Island Association Inc., the Vice Chair for Legislative Affairs of the CUNY University Student Senate, the Board of Directors of the Auxiliary Services Enterprises Corporation, and was President of the College of Staten Island Student Government. In his spare time Mr. Canale serves as the co-president of a homeowners association here on Staten Island. In addition to holding various educational licenses Mr. Canale holds the following degrees and credentials:
Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science (education sequence) from The College of Staten Island/CUNY.
Juris Doctor (law) from Hofstra University School of Law.
Master of Science in School Supervision and Administration from Touro College.
Admission to the New York State Bar.
