First, I would like to congratulate every student who participated in the slam. Your poems and delivery reflected your learning and your incredible creativity while revealing your emotions and feelings about important issues in your lives and our world. I also want to thank our teacher and other guest performers for sharing a bit of themselves with us. Secondly, our musical performances really added to the slam and helped to make it even more special. I love that students performed poems in other languages and felt that they could take the risk to share their emotions and feelings with a large audience.

Finally, I would like to thank Heather Prevosti, Frank Duffy, and Melissa Orlando (our sophomore English team) for working so hard to organize the slam and for welcoming our guest artist, Lamont Dixon, into your classrooms! A special thank you to Lamont for collaborating with our English teachers to help our students realize the power of poetry!
